I have a small office/recording studio which needs ventilation and cooling, but I can't have a noisy unit in the room itself. I'm wondering if I can mount a small window or portable-style unit remotely and duct the cold air back into the office...

IDEAS?

  1. Look at a ductless unit, I put them in Funeral Homes because they are so quiet.

    Here's a sample:

  2. I think the problem is that the fan that comes with it can not blow the air through a duct. You would need a real blower for that to deal with the back pressure of the ductwork.

  3. There are portable units that are made to connect ductwork but are a lot more expensive than the ones you see at the big box stores.

The ductless mini split units may be an option but may not be as quite as you want for a recording studio.

Maybe you could find one of those mobile home type self contained units, they are made to just connect ducting to them.

Don't connect ductwork to any unit that is not designed for duct to be connected, you will just shorten the life of the unit and it will probably just freeze up.

  4. you would have to remote the thermostat of the unit also,
