  1. Actually, yes.  It's called observational bias and although you might not find them directly in anthropology, you will find them in psychology, sociology and animal behavior texts.  

    Another place to look would be the background for the ideas of a double blind study.  The whole reasoning behind a double blind research study is to get rid of observational bias.


  2. My colleagues and I joke about it all the time but I've never seen any published study.  I think it's one of those topics everyone discusses over drinks but no one ever considers report-worthy.
