  1. .com is the one you can play for money at.  First answer IS correct.

Please be aware that Jokerstars uses a shuffling ALGORITHM .  This means that it is NOT random.  It uses a series of theoretically random "inputs" to generate the eventual cards you will be dealt.

This has led to wide-spread and highly controversial claims that the system is rigged.

As a long -time player (2 years now) I have seen such overwhelming evidence of odds-beating hands being dealt that I no longer possess a SHRED of doubt that the system is rigged.  And I'm not saying this because I have PERSONALLY taken bad beats, but because I have GIVEN them and just plain watched atrocious play get rewarded by a miracle.  I have EXPLOITED such flaws when I recognize the pattern.

If you want to LEARN poker via an online simulation, cool.  But I'd never put serious money into playing in one.  THAT is the path of foolishness.

  2. I play at PokerStars.com without a hitch.  You can read a review and decide whether or not you dig it at http://dagus-statistics.com/reviews.htm you'll also find deposit and withdrawal tips.  Hope this helps.

  3. I have a friend that plays at sportsbook.com for real money, and has had no problems.

  4. pokerstars is the biggest site. Therefore it is legitimate. They have quick payouts and are trustworthy. Just make sure its .com not .net.

  5. PokerStars.net is the free play money site, and you cannot gamble for real money at all.  They just use this because it is illegal to advertise online gambling sites in the US, thanks to outdated and draconian gambling restrictions.

You can however play for both play money and real money on PokerStars.com.  It is the largest and arguably the most respected of all the poker sites.  I would trust them with my money as much as Amazon.com.  I've used them for about five years, and never had a problem.
