  1. I never quit my job because I was bound by a contract but honestly I was close to it - all because of terrible parents.

I have quit a student teaching experience on the 3rd day. He threw a chair at me, spit at me and humiliated me in front of my advisor during an observation. My mentor teacher didn't support me and I quit.

  2. It doesn't exactly work that way....teachers are under contracts that state they must work so many days out of the year.

To 'quit' would be insubordination, which the state could turn around and come after their teaching license for.

  3. Have you spoken to any colleagues to get some support or advice?  Do you have a mentor? Have you gone to your administrator for advice or help?

Speak to other new teachers in your district.  The first month is a killer; the first six-eight weeks are a nightmare.  Then, suddenly, they seem to come together as a class. They know what you want, they know you mean business, and they just settle down.   Please don't quit; you must have worked hard to get here.  Look at this as a learning experience. Ask for help, get some support, change some things, and hang in there.

If you give it up now, you'll never know how good you might have been.
