could you please tell me what it's like in coach class? more specifically whether or not it has electrical outlets in the coach class section nearby the seats?

**please only answer if you know for sure, and NOT based on something that you have read on amtrak's website**

  2. I've ridden most Amtrak routes in the east.    The Carolinian is a day train, so it's going to have day coaches and a lounge/cafe, and no formal dining car.  The coach seats I would say are somewhat better than airline "business class".  There's decent legroom and they recline quite a bit.

Amtrak has been trying to keep up with the electronic gadget revolution by adding more outlets whenever cars are refitted.  On the single level fleet, worst case is that each car will have two, typically 1/4 of the way down on the left side if you're standing at either end of the car.  The lounge car is also likely to have outlets, as they refit lounge cars more often than coaches.

You are allowed to use the lounge car, and you certainly ought to take advantage of it rather than sit in your seat the whole trip like it was an airplane or something :)  Think about this when packing, i.e. have all your valuables in a small pack you can take with you to the lounge, so you don't worry about leaving your carry-on at your seat.

  3. you would not have enough leg room and you would be swashed like a bug so if i were see how much a sleeper car is and go with that OK
