i ruptured my appendix in October of 07. A week before i was in constant pain. my parents send me to the emergency room, the doctors did a ct scan and said my appendix did rupture. What the doctor did was give me an IV . they said the night it happened they were going to do surgery the next day. they were afraid so they instead they drained it out. i was in for a whole week or ten days in the hosptial. i am very fortunate, lucky, to be healthy living.

  1. Sometimes a ruptured appendix does not require surgery. It may bother you again in the future, but as long as you have no pain, you should be all set. As a side note, doctors are no longer as hasty to remove a ruptured appendix as they once were. Studies indicate that the appendix might play a role in the immune system.

  2. yeah. my sister ruptured her appendix and didn't need surgery. she's very lucky. she was healthy and her body built a wall to protect from spreading.  very lucky, indeed.

  3. Yes - I had the same situation.  I was feeling ill and came down with high fevers - but I ignored it for a few weeks.  Finally - had it checked out by the Dr. and he had me rushed to the hospital.  I was heavily sceptic (infected) internally and they couldn't operate - so they drained it and gave me IV's for a week in the hospital and it kind of walled itself off.

I'm quite healthy now - but I was told it could happen again.  If it does  - I will go to the Dr. immediately (instead of holding off) and have it taken care ASAP!

  4. Acctually my friend ruptured her appendix the other day (wednesday of last week) and was out the next day...she was fine...they did confirm that she did rupture her appendix and she did not have surgury!
