Maybe even one in a wheelchair? If the person was crippled in life..and didn't know they were dead...wouldn't they still think they were crippled...whether they were or not?

  1. Yes, people have reported seeing ghosts of loved ones that still used walking canes, were in wheelchairs, etc.

Sense that is the way the person appeared in life this would make them more easily recognizable to the still living person seeing them.

Of course your question goes onto ask an additional question of would the surviving spirit still believe themselves to be physically challenged. Certainly if they did not know they were dead (by our standards) they might still believe this. However, it might also be possible that their spirit is communicating with us via ESP and our own brains interpret this image so it is easier for us to process.

On the opposite end there have been reports of people seeing family members who were very ill before death and the their ghost appearing very healthy and no longer suffering from any physical aliments.

What would be truly interesting is reports of a ghost that appeared physically challenged by a witness that did not know that the person was physically challenged in life.

  2. Anyone who saw one was imagining it. Anyone who talked about it was retailing nonsense.

  3. Isn't it said that only souls cross over?  I think wheelchairs are an inanimate object and can't cross over...  And I would think that once they were dead and suddenly realised they could float around, they would think the miracle of God had happened and believe in religion on the that side of things. Would would one then?

  4. This is a good observation.  If someone were handicapped in life, then wouldn't they show a disability in death as well?  I mean, if there are ghost clothes surely there can be ghost wheel chairs.

  5. Nearly every physical ailment or injury is reflected in the ephemeral body or spirit.  Once a spirit has left the physical body, it may have more facility or experience their ailments differently, but the issue will not be resolved until the spirit has healed.

So, it is possible, and likely that a spirit that inhabited a diseased or injured body would retain some characteristics of that problem after leaving the body.  Anyone who is truly able to see this spirit as it is will likely see some sort of malady of spirit.  That may be interpreted as a disability such as the inability to move freely and/or naturally.  It is also possible that a spirit that had physical problems with addiction or attachment may appear to be using a crutch or some other aid to help to support themselves.

I have heard of this phenomenon from reliable sources.  Some healers can actually work directly with the spirit whether it is in the physical body or not, and so, even a disabled spirit can potentially be helped.  Good question Deenie!  I hope some of this information was helpful.
