Has anyone ever seen the Northern Lights?

I was born in Canada...and I know they have them up there...but I've never seen them. How do they look? What are they?

I've seen them, they look like white lights smeared in the sky. Like someone took a paintbrush with white paint and rubbed it across the sky

I use to see them all the time, but now I live in a city so I never can see them from all the lights from town, they look like the northern lights, don't know how else to put it.

They are beautiful from here in Alberta....you look to the North and you can see them "dancing".  They are a combination of blues, greens and whites and if the night is dark enough, they take your breath away!

I have seen the 'LIGHTS' in southern Michigan about 10 years ago, they looked like streaks of light rising up from the horizon
