Has anyone ever sent a letter to JK Rowling?

I'm thinking about sending her a letter, but i don't want to waste my time.

Did you get a response, or even a personalised response?

No i haven't but i have thought about it.

I didn't mainly because i think that she gets loads of letters everyday and she probably doesn't reply to them and also because whatever i write she's probably heard before.

Thirdly and the most important reason i didn't send it was because i thought that there was so many fake addresses for her out there and it might not get there if i send it to the wrong place.

I sent one once, when I was really young, and the books had just come out, and I got a thank-you card. However, that was before Harry Potter was really successful, so I would say that she probably doesn't send thank-you cards anymore.

Why would it be a waste of time to tell someone they've given you pleasure?  She can't possibly answer, but a thank-you note doesn't require an answer.
