  1. Yes, most ships allow you to take "a small amount of beverages for personal consumption"  this however is not intended to be alcoholic beverages.  We take a 2 liter Cream Soda bottle filled with rum and a 2 litter Sprite bottle filled with tequila.  It is always stored in our checked luggage and we have never had a problem.

  2. When we went to a port and got off the boat we always had a bag with us to carry our towels, etc. in.  Coming back on the boat we made sure we had a six pack in there, too.  Much cheaper than buying it on board.  We had no problem going back on the boat, they didn't check.

  3. my future father in law and all his buddies did this when they went on a cruise with their band...they brought bottles and bottles of their own wine, and saved a bundle.

If your careful not to get caught, it is a great idea.

  4. Every-time I go !! wrap it like a present carry it right on board !!

  5. Last cruise I was on had a store which sold inexpensive bottles of booze anyway.   Great to take back to the cabin and have a romantic evening inside if it is storming outside.

    Have fun!!!

  6. we did not smuggle it, we just took it. Wine we left on the counter after we opened it and it stayed there till we finished it. Scotch we kept in our bag - clearly no one should be looking in your bag.

We've also had friends stop in Barbados and take Rum Punch back on board with no hassle.

I would not flaunt thta fact if you decide to brown bag it.

  7. Yes YES I have .looking back though it was not really worth it as you can take as much duty free on board as you like. When you get off the ship THEN the regulations come into effect.Enjoy your cabin parties

  8. The biggest consideration now for us is that the airlines no longer allow liquids on carry ons. And if you pack it in your checked baggage, It may break and ruin all your clothes and any bag more than 50 pounds will be charged a stiff fine. We just try and save money other places, like doing shore excursions on our own, on some of the islands.

  9. Yes, I had a bottle of champagne in my suitcase.  Everything goes thru general inspection and they did open up our suitcase and saw the champagne.  But we told them it was for our anniversary and they didn't seem to care.  They let us and the champagne thru.  I did see a couple of college kids who had their hard liquor bottles confiscated though.  I guess it depends on how much you have and if it is hard liquor or not.

My husband and I were not looking to get drunk or not buy anything from them.  We just wanted to have our favorite champage for an anniversary toast.

  10. As long as you bring it in your checked luggage you shouldn't have a problem.  If you bring it in your carry-on you are subject to inspection and it may be confiscated.  You definately can buy duty free but that it's just to bring home but to drink in your cabin just put it in your checked luggage, we did in RC Radiance of the Seas and had no problem whatsoever.  Enjoy!

  11. put it in your check bags in soda bottles
