Has anyone ever stayed in Ocean Park Puerto Rico?

Question

Im staying at a place called El Prado Inn for 11 nights. Can anyone tell me about the area around Ocean Park PR? Is it safe, whats the nite life like, have you ever stayed there.....?

I lived in Ocean Park for 2 years...it is a really nice neighborhood.  Everyone is pretty nice and it is a gated community so the riff raff tends to stay out.  The beach is nice - if you are worried about homosexuals then be aware that there is one part of the beach called "bato(g*y) beach" - no one gives you any problems though.  

La Uva is a wonderful but very expensive restaurant right on the beach - you can actually eat at tables set up in the sand.  Pinky's sandwich shop is right at the entrance of O.P. and has awesome food and shakes - definately go there.  There's a cool surf shop next door too.

Night life - you probably have to go further into Condado(used to be called Moorings is a cool place) or Old San Juan.  Dunbars is right next to Pinky's and is a relaxed bar(kinda Americanized though) and they have great food too.

Enjoy its a pretty chill place.  The babes are very beautiful too.

I stayed at El Prado back in 1998 when it was on Calle Luchetti in Condado.  I am not sure how the Ocean Park location is, but the neighborhood is a very nice and quiet residential neighborhood with many inns and a significant g*y population. It's in between Condado and Isla Verde and therefore you will have to walk or catch a cab if you plan on going out to a club or another part of the city. It's usually very safe day and night and I never had any problems while I was there.

Ocean Park is a nice area of San Juan. El Prado Inn is only a few blocks from some very nice beaches & close to the Art museum as well. There are hotels & casinos in this area & there is night life. However for the best nightlife you will need to go to Old San Juan. You can take the bus to Viejo San Juan, it is very cheap & about 15 minutes away. You can also take taxi's or rent a car but of course that is more money, but you can see more. & of course visiting Old San Juan during the day is great too. Lots of unique shops & restaraunts along with El Morro & historical sights to see. Ocean Park is a safe area. Just take precautions like you would anywhere you go. ENJOY!! Oh & try the delicious puerto rican cuisine :)

is mostly a residential area of very nice, beach front houses, so it's pretty chill. great beach location. but for nightime action, you must head for condado or isla verde. ocean park is located right in the middle of both, so you're not far from the partay scene.

a good place to visit in O.P. is a vegetarian restaurant there in the neighborhood. lots of americans live in the area and they frequent the place, so you can get lots of good tips from them.
