Has anyone ever stayed in Zykinthos(Zante)?

Question

If so..were you anywhere near the Hotel Contessa?? If so do you know what the hotel is like...or even all the places around it? is it cheep..dear? Is it a lively place at night in the main town?

I went to Zante a few years ago and stayed in Argassi, it was lovely.  It's not the busiest of resorts but there's plenty to do, and also very peacefull.  Your hotel seems to have good reviews on tripadvisor.

we  stayed there last september and it was brilliant very lively at  night .it is c heap  but like everywhre else the further you go into,  the main town the dearer it is  . sorry not heard of the hotel . verey friendly locals and thre restaurents are great. oe of our best holidays  hope you enjoy as much as we did. hope this helps

We stayed in Alikez in Zakinthos, about 6 years ago, and loved it ,we fell in love with Greece and have been to 9 different Greek islands since then.  I don't know the hotel you are going to but we have found that most accomodation in Greece tend to be basic,  often breakfast is continental, bread,jam, cake, fruit etc, which we don't really want to bother getting up for, if you go self catering you can please yourself, not that we go for "full english" cereal and some boiled eggs does us. It is far less expensive than Britain to eat out, and so many places to choose from  you can eat at a different place every night,  don't go to the places all the Brits are, these are usually expensive and not good food, go the the places the Greeks eat, even if the chairs do look a bit rickety, the food is often better and cheaper.

The best thing is how friendly the Greeks were, they are so lay back, but also the service in bars and restaraunts is superb, many offering complimentary drinks, cakes, starters etc,  when do you ever get that here, we had a fab chilled out holliday and have been doing so every year since then, there are hundreds of Greek islands and we plan to visit them all before we die.  If you get into the Greek mode "avrio" which means "tomorrow" don't rush about cos it's too hot anyway, and just take things easy, have a drink and watch the world go by  then you will have a fab lay back holiday.

Its a nice hotel as I have heard though

Well to saty in the town,its more for walks,cafes and restautants,I mean you ll find crowd till 2 at night.then you can visit,Argasi,Tsilivi,Laganas or Bochali

It depends your taste.

Greeks go to Bochali and Argasi and Brits to Laganas or tsilivi.

Laganas and Tsilivi are cheaper,but Its very crowded and very out of limits......

aint been yet but off ta zykinthos in 2 days ment too be gud price for booze n livley in places but then ya can get ya quiet bars n that.

Been to Zante and never heard pf the hotel.

Checked the reviews and nothing on it there either so unless you've already booked it, don't bother. Stick to somewhere that other Brits have stayed in.
