  1. Valerian is a relaxant and a soporific.  It can be taken as tea, tincture or capsules/tablets.  I usually recommend liquid form as it gets into the system much more efficiently as a tea, tincture, infusion or decotion, than w/ caps or tabs.  W/ teas and tinctures, one also does not then have to worry about excipients and additives/binders/fillers.  Yes, it works and works well, being one of the stronger sedative herbs.  Some people do NOT like the fact that the root smells like old dirty athletic socks however.  Valium was actually originally synthesized from valerian root.

  2. Yes, I sometimes take a Valerian root supplement if I am having trouble sleeping... tends to make you drowsy and supposedly helps you sleep better throughout the night.

  3. It is a pain reliever also.  It is good for cramps, and headaches.

    It is also a relaxer.

  4. Yes, it is excellent for anxiety and for sleep disorders!

  5. It's used to fight Insomnia!   Valerian knocks me out like a light!  If you take it too long  you'll start to smell like it.  It's one of the herbs best to alternate unless you have severe Insomnia..  In case you might not know:  Insomnia is when one can't sleep!

  6. I take it often for sleep.

    It works very well.

I've also taken it to calm anxiety if I'm having a difficult day.
