I'd love to go on a Caribbean cruise. Because of our location, we'd have to leave out of the Houston area. Has anyone ever cruised out of Houston, say on Carnival?

Thanks!

Sandy

  1. I've cruised out of houston! We were on the carnival. Carnival is actually very fun and clean and a good cruise. But I would say carribean cruise is a little more fancy than carnival and WAY more fancy than disney cruise. Happy Sailings!

  2. I have sailed from Galveston many times, in fact I will be sailing from Galveston agian in August.

Carnival has a bunch of choices from Port of Galveston.  You can take a 4, 5, or 7 day from there.

If this is your first cruise I reccomend a 5 day.  That way you can get a feel for cruising and spend less money to do so.

  3. Hi!, yes, every year we always go on a caribbean cruise with Carnival. The best caribbean cruise that I am going to do over and over is Eastern, guess why??? Half moon cay!!! it's paradise! we all love it soooo much we are did it last year and we are going to be back on 2008. Whenever you cruise, make sure your ship stops at Half moon cay... if your ship doesnt stop there, then you're missing the best port of call.

  4. I've been on several Carib cruises.

The ones out of Galveston mainly go to Grand Cayman and Cozumel, for a good one you will need to sail from either Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or San Juan, PR.

We recently got back from a Royal Caribbean cruise of Antigua, Barbados, St. Thomas, St. Lucia & St. Maarten.

It was wonderful, but we had to fly to San Juan to meet the ship.

  5. Carnival offer two cruises out of the Port of Galveston.

A 5-day on the Ecstasy that visits Cozumel and Progresso.  We took this trip in 2006 with 19 family members.  She is an OK ship and Progresso is good place to shop because this port is not as tourist/commerical as Cozumel.

There are a ton of shore excursions in Cozumel and they are doing a good job of re-building after the hurricanes.

We took the Conquest in 2007 with 14 family members.  She is a much better ship than the Ecstasy.  She is larger and her ride is much more smooth.  The only issue I had with the Conquest was the itinerary.  First 2 days were out to sea; you get a bit bored by the afternoon of Day 2.  Then you hit three ports of call in a row.  By Saturday, you are worn out.

We have also taken the Royal Caribbean Rhaposody of the Sea out of Galveston.  I don't recommend her at all.  The ship has major plumbing problems.

The RC Voyager of the Seas is moving to the Galveston port in December.  She is a better ship than the Rhaposody.

Of the three out of Galveston, I would recommend the Conquest.

Parking at the port is $50 for a 5-day trip, $70 for a 7-day trip.

Remember, if you sail in 2008, you will need a passport.  Be sure to start the paperwork now.  The passport office is about 6 months behind.

Check out www.vacationstogo.com.  You can search by departure port.

  6. My parents did and loved every minute

    they were thoroughly spoilt

    I'd recommend it

    hearsay...

  7. I have do so and its great its the best experience you will have in your live. the first thing you would love are the beaches, shore excursions and the temperature you will return home like a tomato. The best itinerary i Caribbean Southern and which line Princess they have great excursions, rooms, public rooms and entertainment you would need.

  8. Try cruiseaddicts.com or cruisecritics.com for great advice from veteran cruisers who just love to share tips and their love of cruising. I've been on Carnival 3 times. What they say is true. Carnival didn't get to be the largest cruiseline for nothing. Prepare to become addicted! Bon Voyage.
