I have homeschooled and now am going to a private school. I have to take the placement test tomorrow at 11 in order to see what classes i'll take and what grade they will let me in. Has anyone taken it and can give me advice on it? Is it long, is it hard, and etc. Thanks!

  1. I bet that most schools use their own tests so it would be hard to tell what will be on it. If you want to brush up on your math, go to http://www.aleks.com/webform/homeschool_...

They have a one month free trial. Go through the course that you have done the most recently (example-Algebra if you took it last year) and you will be able to do a review in about 2 hours on Aleks. That way you will at least not have to repeat a math class that you have already taken before.

The English portion would be hard to study for-you either know it or you don't. I wouldn't stress about it, they just want you in classes that will be at your level.

  2. I hope you did well on your test!

For others that want to know, very often private schools use the ISEE test for placement and admissions. http://www.erbtest.org/parents/admission...

Catholic schools may use the STS/HSPT  http://www.ststesting.com/hsptpg9.html

Some schools require that prospective students take one of the above tests, or a similar test, plus a placement exam that each school gives.   If you ask, the school will tell you about their placement exam.

  3. just take 2 pencils, eat breakfast before you go, make sure you go to the bathroom before you go, get a good night's sleep

and your supposed to take a light jacket just incase the room is cold or something.

and I usually take advil or something so I wont end up getting a cold in the middle of the test.

dont skip any... and if your really stumped on a question skip it.. if you have to guess pick C

Its pretty long... and its hard just because they throw questions in there that you would learn in like.. 12th grade.. just to see how smart you are

you should study for it. .but dont worry too much, its just to see what you know already, and what you need to improve on.

    good luck =]
