My 4month old spits up all the time all day long. her dr says that she is fine because she is in the 50% for her weight, but i know in my heart something is wrong. Her cheeks are starting to get chubby, but that's it, i had 0-3mths on her the other day and they fall right off, some things fit, but most are so big on her, and then i put 3mth jeans on her and they fall off! Sunday she ate a bowl of oatmeal with fruit and drank only 2oz, we went out and she spit it all up, then she fell asleep until around 3 and ate almost 4 oz and spit probably half back up. At dinner time she ate half a jar of squash and spit almost all of it back up. around 7 she was hungry and ate 4oz and spit half up it up. It is an on going cycle and her dr just thinks she has acid reflux, but that's a lot for just that. So i was wondering if anyone has had this issue and what they did for you. Please help thanks!

  1. she may have food allergies... you should try for a second opinion and see a specialist. It may very well be nothing, but really are you willing to risk that? I would def take her to the dr sweetie

  2. I would try the allergy specialist too, to rule out food allergies. If she's 4 months old and eating alot of different baby foods already, it could be that her digestive system isn't ready for them yet. If you introduce too many 'foods' too soon, they can develop allergies to them.

The longer you hold off on food other than bottles, the better. I have a friend who's baby was 6 weeks early and his digestive system couldn't handle any 'food' until he was almost a year old.

  3. First of all if she had a problem she should not be on food ! She is to young. Have you switched her forumla ? They do make one for babies that spit up, Is she burping when she is eating, you might need to feed her a bit and then burp her and then go on. We had to put ours on gentlease and that helped a lot. I would think about changing formulas it cant hurt

  4. I'm having the same issue. My 4 month old is gaining weight, but is in the 50th percentile, tall and thin and can still fit in her 0-3 month clothes and maybe even her newborn onesies.  My Dr. just says if she is gaining weight, she is fine, but she is throwing up, not spitting up and I'm starting to really be bothered by how much it is. She is actually spitting up mucous when she throws up and does it from bottle to bottle, not just right after a feeding. I haven't taken my baby to any other Dr.'s but I am getting to the point where I feel like there is something more going on. Good luck!

  5. Trust your doctor.

  6. My best friend had the same issue with her daughter (who is now almost 8 months old). The doctor kept saying that it was normal and they were not concerned because she was still gaining weight. They also said it usually stopped at 6 months.

Lo and behold, after 6 months, she stopped spitting up. She is 100% healthy now.

If it would ease your mind, take her to the doctors... but some babies just tend to spit up more than others. If she starts rapidly dropping weight, definately bring her to the doctors. Wait a few more months and see if she stops. She probably will...

    Good luck!
