Has anyone ever trained a monkey to read and write?

Hmm, I think technically yes. I think it was an ape though, and he/she had this form of communication with a trainer through symbols and pictures. Kinda like magnets on a fridge, the ape would be able to understand and communicate back in this way. And they definitely have taught them sign language before.
