  1. Yes, from Niagara Falls to Toronto and back

  2. Yes, several times from Toronto to Montreal and back again and from Guelph to Brampton (mind you those trains are operated by Amtrak).

It depends on where you are going...if you use economy and book ahead of time, you can save a good chunk of money and get to where you are going relatively quickly, but as far as I can remember, the LRC economy cars (on the Quebec-Windsor corridor) are dilapadated, stinky and uncomfortable, but I'm sure the transcontinental trains are much better.  I suppose, like other forms of transportation; you get what you pay for.

  3. I took the Via Rail from Calgary to Vancouver. The scenery was georgeous and the scenic car had great views of the Rocky Mountains with overhead windows. We stayed economy so there was much to be desired when it came to sleeping room which was comparable to being on a bus seat. For freedom and mobility during the travel you can't beat this over a bus with being able to walk through the train and to other cars.

  4. For our honeymoon, my wife and I took the VIA rail train from Toronto to Vancouver. We had a double room. The cars were very nice and clean. The crew were very personable and helpful. It was fun meeting all of the passengers during the journey.
