Has anyone ever tried gluing tiles to a brass fireplace insert?

I was told that the brass fireplace doors are out of style now and that I should replace it or paint it black. Any good suggestions?

try painting it first and see how you like it- make sure you get paint for metal and high heats (like automotive spray paint should work). tile will probly fall off right away...don't' try it. they do have replacement ones in the stores in different styles. or you can just remove the whole thing, clean up the edges and get a nice folding screen to put in front of it.
