  1. yes they work really well, they clear out all your sinuses- good for when youve got a cold!

  2. FYI ... the Hopi tribe do not use ear candling, nor do any other Native American tribes.

This is a totally bogus therapy with a possibility of dripping molten wax onto the inside of your ear and leaving you screaming in pain and/or deaf.

  3. I saw this in Manhattan, I think its dangerous. Any kind of foreign object in your ear or near your eardrum can cause vertigo, infections and other irritations. Your ears excrete wax natural and its connected to lymphnodes, throat and ears. So be careful.

  4. No, I haven't, but I have heard great things about them. They are supposed to work very well =)

  5. There is little to no difference between Hopi Ear Candling, and using the typical ear candles, the most notable of which are Wally's Ear Candles out of California.  Wally's makes several kinds, from plain linen or cotton, both w/ either plain beeswax or vegetable paraffin, and/or both w/ essential oils and herbs in the wax.  They should not be used by oneself alone, unless you have no other choice.  It's best to have another person around.  They also MUST be used w/ an aluminium pie plate threaded about 3 inches up the ear candle, as this is essential to keep hot wax and burning bits of fabric from either burning the user or lighting their hair on fire.  I've used them multiple times and found them to be extremely helpful with my own ears, especially in cases where the ear (eustachean tube) becomes blocked w/ thick mucous (as in from a cold or ear infection) that will not unblock from blowing one's nose and trying to equalize pressure, etc.  Use the candles combined w/ Wally's Ear Oil (afterwards) (which is primarily a mullein/garlic/olive oil blend w/ other herbs in it).  Works great.  Also, when putting the ear candle out, don't blow it out, immerse it into a bowl of water b/c if you blow it out, it continues to smoke, so much so that it can set off the fire alarms in the house or building where you're working..

  6. No I'm too scared to try them because my aunt got the wax in her ear and had to have an operation to remove it!

  7. Ear candling, whether practised by your local esthetician or a Hopi Indian has no proven therapeutic benefits.

They don't "withdraw toxins" and they don't actually even get rid of you ear wax problem (assuming you have one that is)

There have been many documented cases of serious burns and perforation of the eardrum from hot wax.

    as a "therapy"...it is bunk
