  1. I had been waiting years for a product that works.  I decided to try the Ready Strip and I'm so happy that I did.  We have cherry wood trim in most of our house and the previous owner painted over it (what a shame).  The Ready Strip works GREAT for me.  The only smell I've been able to detect is kind of like play dough but it's nontoxic and not really offensive.  It's gooey and green, sticks to vertical surfaces.  It turns either a light green or white when it's finished (usually around 4 hours but depends on how thick it's put on and humidity).  And if you're concerned with how long you can leave it on, take time to do your project and apply only as much as you think you can handle.  Sometimes it's hard to get off but by spraying it with a little of it's "finishing spray" (or spraying it with water) softens it up and then you can scrape it off.  I'm now refinishing two end tables that were stained and lacquered and they're turning out beautifully.  The only suggestion I have is to place some sort of throw-away tarp or plastic underneath your project (makes cleanup easier).  I usually don't buy "as seen on t.v." products but I'm sure glad I did with this one.

  2. we are using cleaning rugs in cleaning.

  3. I have used many types of finish removers and seen many infomercials too by the way!  Primary concern with them is the toxic fumes and the burning aspect a close second. So being burnt by infomecials is a definate possibility. lol

There are new products that are orange based and so non toxic that I have heard a variety of success about and so I would ask at a paint shop which works best and buy it.

Also sanding broad surfaces while wearing a dust mask is faster as long as you are not concerned about a thin veneer.

Most important is to read and obey the instructions exactly with these strippers. Good luck

  4.      You say you have a kidney condition, but not what kind. So, with this in mind, I'm going to tell you not to use any kind of "stripper" or any type of remover, do not sand this desk, use any remover of any kind or, paint, varnish or use any type of thinner or anything connected with refinishing this desk.

Now, do you have all this ???

I am a retired carpenter of 47 years, I have also a former certified retired MedLab TechnologistSupervisor.

The fumes from any of these products I am saying any of them could harm a healthy person, they could in fact put you in a dialysis unit for sure so do not try this. This fumes will by bad for you even with a mask on.

Either have someone else do this for you in an vented area and stay away from it until it dries.

There is no product on the market that can guarentee you no harm. Have someone else do this for you.
