Has anyone ever used any format other than the snake draft in their leagues.?

Question

The league I am in, the commish wants to re-pick the draft order every other round. So if you draw first pick you get number one overall and than last pick in the second round then you re-pick and you may be last in the third round and so on and so on. I think this is stupid. The whole reason behind the snake draft is to make it fair. Questions and comments are needed. Thanks
