I know they say deffinataly do this test in the morning, but since theres 50 strips I was curious just to see so I did one just now but nothing happened, did anyone else have this problem? or did I do something wrong?

  1. Are you using the Keto-Diastix that are used to check for ketones?  If so, then no color change means you are not running ketones, which is a good thing.  The ones that estimate your blood glucose from your urine haven't been recommended in 20 years because they are incredibly inaccurate...why are you using them?  You need to use a blood glucose meter.  The only thing I use Diastix for these days is to verify if the drinks I order at restaurants are truly Diet Coke or not.  Works like a charm!

  2. I don't remember the brand name, but when i used something like this is changed color depending on the amount of sugar in the urine.

Point is, if it didn't change color, there was no sugar.  that is a GOOD THING.

But this is really a rough test, and most doctors don't  use it any more.  if there is sugar in your urine then you are already severely diabetic, and need help FAST.

A better test is the A1C test.  this is a simple blood test done in the doctor office.  IF the doctor has the equipment, it take 5-10 minutes.  otherwise, he'll take a blood sample to a lab for 2-3 days.

If the A1C comes back "NORMAL" then you do not have diabetes.  If the test comes back "HIGH" then the doctor will want to do other test to confirm diabetes or hyperglycemia

But the A1C test will also test for hypoglycemia.  if the A1C is "LOW" then you might be hypoglycemic.  Hypoglycemic will NOT show up on the diastix.

the A1C test is so simple, you should insist that the doctor perform it.  This will greatly ease your mind without having to pee all over everything!

  3. I've used clinistix, and if the color doesn't change, there is no sugar detected.  I suppose it'd be similar for diastix.  Check the instructions.
