Has anyone ever visited Sorano, Italy?

I'm planning on visiting Sorano, Italy this summer because I've heard it's beautiful and it doesn't have a lot of tourism. Has anyone ever been there? Can I get there by bus? Does it have cheap hotels and hostels? What kinds of restaurants and attractions does it have? Please no Wikipedia, I've already looked it up...

Any information on other Tuscan towns without a lot of tourism is appreciated as well.

  1. I've been twice at Sorano (and Sovana) and I guess what you are expecting to find overthere. Unless you have an high interest to the world of Etruscans there is not much to do. It's a nice small  ancient village (nor 4000 inhabitans) but, aside the Etruscan sites that could keep you busy for days, in 2/3 hours you'll have finished to see new things...!!. You say having already looked up to Wikipedia but then I don't understand all yr questions about hotel, hostels, restaurants, attractions.

Didn't you realize that in this village there is no choice ?? I guess there is just an hotel and 2 restaurants...!

Here's a link in English and I hope this hopefully will clear you up

better where you're going to go.

    I repeat, it's a nice and typical village,but it's very small indeed.

I've been there by car (I live in the region) and I think there are local connections by bus but this will also depend on you're placed. If you live in Grosseto it's possible you find a bus going overthere but no hopes to go there straight from other towns (Florence, Siena, etc.)

There are many small towns in Tuscany without a lot of tourism but this is also depending if you have a car or not.

Since you didn't post this information feel free emailing me to explain how you intend to travel.

Just in the neighbours of Sorano you could visit Sovana and Pitigliano. Also Grosseto, the bigger closest town (abt. 90 kms far from Sorano) has not too many tourists. If you like attractions and possibilty to chose hotels and restaurants you should stay there. Here's the website for yr checking:
