Has anyone ever volunteered at an animal rescue?

I would like to volunteer at Main Line Animal Rescue here in the Philadelphia area. However, I worry that the work may be too depressing. Did anyone have uplifting experiences as part of their volunteer work?

yes waited for them to have adoption days or special events made experience alot nicer

I volunteered at my local Animal Rescue and I LOVED it! I would so do it again. I spent the entire day with the cats just holding them and petting them. They have all different areas you can work in and I think I ended up with the best job :P  Its very sad knowing that they all need homes but its rewarding knowing that you can do some work and help just by petting them!
