Never, Kenseth won in '03 winning at Las Vegas and never again the whole season which sparked the idea for "The Chase."

Yes, Stupid Freaking Matt Kenseth!! that's why we now have this beautiful mess they call "The Chase" to deal with now!! Let's run three fourths of a season then reset the points so a guy who is 300 pts back can win a championship!! Here's an idea, lets make the PGA pros play their first three rounds and then reset the top 12 for the fourth round!! Makes a lot of sense right!!

BP (RIP) & Matt Kenseth won 1 race in their respective Championship seasons. I don't think that a driver won the Championship without winning at least 1 race in a season.

I'm with 'themoe'  even though I'm a huge Kenseth fan.  The chase stinks.  They applied the point system from every major racing series in the world to the 2003 season.  Kenseth was still the champion using them all.  Yes, he had one win but he had an awesome season!  And he was probably a victim of his own success.  He had such a huge lead by mid-season, he had no choice but to get a touch conservative.  Running well is a product of proper execution.  Winning is quite often the product of circumstances going your way at the end of a race.  Consistency should never be taken away from the point system.
