Has anyone ever worked as a secret shopper?

I'm looking to pick up something part-time and I have seen an add in the paper for secret shoppers. I know what they do but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience doing it and how you liked it. Is it worth the money?

I catch shoplifters for a living and I get called a secret shopper even though I am not per definition. Before my present job, I worked for a Movie theater and they used Secret Shoppers to make sure we were up selling, "Would you like a large for a quarter more?" I looked into it a while ago and one place said that you can get free stuff while doing the job, i.e. meals paid for, movie tickets paid for. The thing was, the places were not in my area to do the work. I wouldn't pay to get a list like some places make you do.

I haven't done it, but I have heard from others who have.  It sounds totally worth it...easy work and lots of free stuff and food.  I'd be doing it now if I lived in a larger town where they actually use this type of service.
