  1. i waitressed for a year and they usually dont get paid well from the resturant and you just have to make the tips to make up for it, which stinks on the slow nights. where you make your money is the regulars that you get to know and they like you so the ask for your section. its not a bad job if you like people and being busy, you just have to learn to manage your time real well in a matter of seconds so you dont forget to get somebody something or take forever to get it. good thing is you dont work long hours and usually make great money for the hours you do work. just smile and be friendly ppl will tip you good well and take good care of your tables. good luck with the job!

  2. I was a waitress is was fun. If you are working at a nice paced or busy  place you will make good money. I enjoyed being a server. My advice would be, be wise with your money, one day you can make 150.00 and the next 15.00.

  3. 7 years I waited tables.  Pay is miserable, tips supplement.  Depending on the traffic through the restaurant you can make big tips or very small tips.  Ponderosa I think would be on the low end range.  Since customers pay before sitting and the waitress does not take their order or hand them their check people tend to leave 1 or 2 dollars.  The better restaurants are where the money is.

  4. ya i did waitressing in culinary school and my current job i work as a server. i serve food to the elderly. and buss tables and etc. and were not allowed to accept tips. that sucks.... but anyway ya if ur a good waitress ull get good tips. i been told i should get a real job as a waitress because im nice and i would probably get good tips but im lazy to look for a new job.

  5. as long as you work busy shifts the tips make up for the wage and then some- in Idaho your wage is only 3.56/hr which basically covers taxes- but on good nights you can bring home great $- it also greatly depends on the restaraunt. The hardest part is budgeting and paying bills when you do not get the same amount each week, and daily cash vs a pay check to pay the bills

  6. Depending on where your work, (city, state, country) there are laws telling the employer the minimum amount they must pay you. When you go to the interview........ask.how much and when is payday. If, they don't tell you, don't take the job.

  7. the tips make up for the lack in pay although you are responsible for the reporting all the tips you make. the irs will get all over you

  8. ive been a waitress for 5 years and it can be very hard and verrrrry stressful...waitresses make 2.13 and hour(it can vary from state to state) you usually dont get a paycheck because it gets eaten up by taxes i usually get a 50 or 60 dollar paycheck every 2 weeks and thats only because i do other things there that pay more per hour also...but it dosent really matter if you dont get a check because you will have cash everytime you work...maybe ponderosa will pay you more hourly because they are a buffet? but as far as i know people rarely tip at buffets because they feel they are doing the work themselves by getting their own food and such...maybe try at an actual sit down restaurant...i work at an applebees and like i said its amazing money. but you have to be really good with people and have an excellent attitude....and you need to be able to multi task... hope this helped some...you could also ask some of the other servers at that restaurant how much they usually make
