  1. Yes, I work at Starbucks.

Well, for stressfulness it really depends where your store is located. I work at two stores, one is located in a bookstore and the other is on a main street. The one in the bookstore is very slow and relaxing, and the one on the main street is hectic and chaotic during rushes.

How was it like? Hmm, at first it felt like the customers knew more about the drinks than you do! Especially the regulars!! Pouring drip coffee is very easy...you should depress a k**b on the coffee urn. Making lattes might be hard at first, but after a while you're like "Oh, a latte...so what?". I remember when I made my first latte, I could literally feel my heart palpitating and I felt soo nervous and weak. But I did it :). And now making a latte is no big deal!! Just remember, be fast!! Speed + quality is what customers what.

Smoothies aren't hard at all (if you are talking about the Vivanno ones). It's got instructions on the wall where I work. They say like "Pour 2% milk to first line of blending pitcher, add 3 pumps of mocha, one banana, one scoop of ice and 3 scoops protein/whey powder and blend." So easy.

Basically all you need to remember are the drink codes, which are very easy, and the number of flavouring syrups for each size.

My store didn't have a drive thru, but if you're working driv thru, make sure you speak clearly, enunciate and be even more courteous than if you were working the till in the store. Customers have no idea what's going on in the lobby of the store and how stressed you people might be in there.

You'll do fine. Don't worry about it. Oh, always use a thermometer for steaming milk! Or else the next person on bar won't know what temp the milk is at (if it's still in the red zone or not).

    Good luck!

  2. My my, dazed and confused, really is...dazed and confused.

It's a fun job. Depending on where in Canada you are, you'll find a lot of the stores have drive-thru, at least in the more suburban areas.

They train you really well, and you'll have a learning coach or two that you can go to for the first few months: Just feel comfortable going to them, and they will give you all the help you need.

Starbucks and Tim Hortons, while being coffee shops, are very different places to work, and even within the companies, some stores are very different to work at: Tim Hortons doesn't really care about its employees, and neither does Starbucks, but Starbucks is better at pretending that they do by giving benefits and a higher wage.

It's not super stressful: If you get the job, then make sure that your manager isn't putting you on a high stress spot, like the coffee bar for your first few weeks until you get used to it, or ask for more afternoon shifts, when they are not so busy.

  3. Don't work at starbucks. They support Israel, and Israel kills innocent people, (including newborn babies)

And they destroy innocent peoples homes

Thats why i stopped going there.
