We are contemplating becoming permanent Irish residents and wonder how our presence would be viewed by local people in Donegal or thereabouts.

  2. I moved to Ireland in 1997 with my parents, having been born in London and raised in Berkshire.  At this stage I wouldn't even think of moving back to the UK.  The people here are very welcoming, and are happy that you would choose to live here out of anywhere else.  The only thing I'd say is, that with the Celtic Tiger, the cost of living here is a bit higher than in the UK.  I think it's worth it though, you'll find plenty to do when you get here, and if you like golf it's the perfect place to live, and the scenery in Donegal is stunning.

Oh also to mention - when you get here, make an effort to get to know your neighbours, participate in the local community, and make sure to visit your local pub.  Best way to get to know people and vice versa!

  3. Anybody thats English and living in Ireland DO NOT WEAR AN ENGLAND JERSEY,the only reason most of the Irish people dont like the English is because of the famine and things like the 1916 rising,i know its not YOUR fault but can you really blame them (us)! Did you ever see "The Wind That Shakes The Barley"?
