Has anyone experienced a tornado?

I live in Ne. and we get them here sometimes, has anyone lost their home or business to one

I cannot say that I have lost my home or business, but, the tornado took my outside patio furniture, lawn mower, ripped up our privacy fence, ripped off part of our siding to the house, ripped off some of our gutters, and knocked down a lot of trees that feel in the streets.

I have always heard that a tornado sounded like a train coming through and then went it leaves, it is complete silent.  I was always thinking that those people who said that was crazy.  Well, I guess I am crazy because it does sound like a train coming through.  It only lasted for about 10-12 seconds and then after that, it was complete silence.

My wife, 2 yr. old daughter, myself, mother, and step father were all in the bathroom.  My wife put my daughter in the tub, she covered her with her body and then I covered my parents with two king size blankets and then I covered my wife with my body.

After the tornado left, I was afraid to go outside because I did not know what to expect.  I was in complete shock with the destruction it caused.

BTW, I live in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Never lost a home or business, but I did see one which touched down ner downtown Denver.  I could see it from about 2 miles away.  Amazingly it did little damage, but I think the wind speed of the tonado was really low (80 MPH).

I haven't, peronally, but i have some friends who lost their homes in the may 3, 1999 tornado that went through moore oklahoma...
