Question:

Has anyone experienced bleeding during pregnancy?

I am 13 1/2 weeks pregnant & I am bleeding. It's bright red & mucus like. It is way more than spotting but I would not consider it heavy. I have some cramping as well but it's not unbearable. I just got home from the hospital and they found nothing. The baby's heartbeat is 168, cultures, blood work and urine were all fine. They did not do an ultrasound. I was put on pelvic rest & told to return if the bleeding or cramping worsen otherwise to follow up with my ob/gyn on Tuesday.

Has anyone else experienced bleeding-with a cause or randomly? I really need a way to keep my mind at ease until I can see my ob/gyn on Tuesday.

Thank you.

  1. i bleed horribly with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancy. not that bleeding is normal. i stressed and cried and worried that i would lose them.  rest, stay in bed and relax. do you have someone to help you out?  anyway, both of my babies lived. they never came up with a reason why i bleed, and it wasn't light bleeding it was a lot of blood. get plenty of rest and stay off your feet for a while.

  2. Yes I had bleeding twice in two weeks at about the 9 week mark. Pretty much the same as yourself, bright red and a little bit of cramping. The first time they just had a look and said everything was closed so don't worry. The second time they sent me in for ultrasounds where the found the bleeding was coming from behind my uterus.

We're now 6 months pregnant and doing great. I blamed myself, thinking I'd done the wrong thing (oh, that shopping was too heavy the other day, etc) but it's really pointless - so don't worry and don't blame yourself!!

The body is pretty amazing and can take all sorts of stuff. My partner's mum kept telling me about how her mother-in-law was in a plane crash when she was pregnant with my partner's dad. I didn't really appreciate her trying to tell me that I was worrying for nothing - but I really was!

  3. I am 24 weeks pregnant now, but had some bright red bleeding at 14 weeks...it's was soooo scary- so I know how you feel!  They did an ultrasound and it turns out I had Placenta Previa- where the placenta is covering or partially covering the cervix.  This is common in early pregnancy- and at my 20 week ultrasound it was already resolved.  Nothing was wrong with the baby at all, but I would have them do an ultrasound and check on the placement of the placenta.  In the meantime, do not have any intercourse- because that can increase the chances of bleeding.  Good luck and try to trust.  Nobody told me that bleeding is somewhat common, but I guess it is!

  4. I would just take it easy for the next few days.... I had some slight bleeding, but no cramping....... You might have just over worked yourself, or lifted too hard......

Just try and keep your mind off of it, which I know will be hard . :)

  5. I'm 6 months pregnant that happened to me but it was nothing  but if u start to bleed and its heavy you should check it out because it could be a miscarriage

  6. If you have already been to the hospital and had all those tests done then I wouldn't really worry too much (it's not good to stress).  Definitely check up with your doctor on Tuesday, but with the heartbeat and all the normal tests I bet it's just a "partial period" or something. Good luck from a mom of four!!!

  7. it can happen...you can be bleeding from around the uterus.

if they heard a heartbeat, i wouldn't worry, but i'd keep aware of the cramping...wouldn't want it to get worse.

    good luck!
