Lately I have been having sharp pains shooting behind my ears into my head and it hurts really bad.

my sister says that happens to her on occasions, but it seems to be happening more frequently to me, I notice them alot when I get upset or stressed out, I was told it could ne tension, but I really don't know. It is scary at times cause it's really sharp pains, that come and go. I do plan on seeing a doctor about this, but in the meantime I want to ask has anyone else had this problem or could possibly know what it is and what causes this?

Thank you for your answers

  1. It may be "trigeminal neuralgia". There is a facial nerve that can sometimes spasm for no particular reason and cause a dull throb or an electric shock-type pain on the jawbone, near the temple and/or by the ear.

It is often treated with anti-convulsants like Tegratol & Dilantin.

  2. is there sometimes a feeling of pressure?  it could be your eardrums.
