Has anyone experienced these issues with Vonage?

At any point in time during a telephone conversation, my audio drops and I can hear the other party saying "hello...hello...are you there?" The audio only on my end drops for anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds. I tried their bandwidth saver and then I was on the phone with India for 3 hours a few nights ago. Neither tech 1 or tech 2 could figure out the problem. Both had me go through the same tests.

My broadband service is working fine. Vonage has shipped a new device but I have not received it yet. However, I don't have positive feelings that will solve the problem. If anyone has experienced this, please let me know what the root of the problem was. Thanks.

  2. My mom has vonage and she has a 10 second delay. She can't even use her phone. They say it is b/c of her internet but I personally just think that they haven't worked out all the kinks.

  3. Is it possible that you phone has poor range-weak broadcast or reception.

Can you borrow a phone and try it on your vonage?

  4. I know how you feel. I have Metro PCS and the same thing happens to me.  I understand it's not the same Phone company but I guess you get what you pay for.  I will suggest to change phone company, otherwise you will come across the same problem over and over again.  I have seen a Commercial on TV that the guy it's always saying...

CAN YOU HERE ME YET:), and the phone calls don't drop in the middle of a conversation, NEXTEL, CINGULAR, also very good phone companies. SWITCH GIRL, DON'T WAIST YOUR TIME.

  5. I've had vonage for a while and I experienced similar issues, and some more. I would say 90% of the time all works well, but then sometimes we have trouble. My feeling is that it is mostly due to the internet connection. You may think that the connection works fine, but it is hard to tell from just downloading files. There are various websites that offer free VOIP quality tests for your internet connection, and most of the time the results say that our connection simply is not suited for decent quality VOIP. And this while we can download at blazin speed. Just search for "VOIP speed test" or similar.

So the bottom line is, I think, that most broadband connections simply are not good enough for VOIP.
