i recently asked a question about whether or not an open audition was likely. it was just a random audition where agents and people come to watch you and it's free. its supposed to lead to a career in acting or singing or dancing.

here is my question now:

is there anyone that is now famous that has been discovered by something similar to this? anything at all similar would be good.

(the audition is coming up and i'm not going to lie, i would just like some reassurance that this is possible, so please nothing mean)

  1. James Gurly from Big Brother and the Holding company (Janis Joplin's original band) was sort of just pulled off the street to join the band.  And I think the bassist was playing guitar in his bedroom when the lead guitarist just walked by and overheard it.  So he walked into his apartment without knocking and just asked him if he'd like to join the band.

  2. I just heard this one yesterday, but Chris Brown was discovered at his dad's gas station. A local production team were searching for people that could sing/act, and they stopped there and discovered him.

  3. Yes

They usually have built a local reputation and someone passes the word along, or an audition like America's Got Talent comes along.

There are frequently talent searchs in larger cities.

Search for Audition, or talent scouts by city
