  1. me i was scared but when i needed it the things i was scared of were the farthest from my mind. i wanted it and i wanted it right then!! tell them to not let you see the needle! That will help alot!

  2. they dont give u a epidural they will give u a spinal with a planned c section.. i had an epidural 1 week ago wit my 1st child!! the contractions were not there, it was great!!! the only thing that hurt was the needle and a little sting after but then everything waist down went numb...

  3. I have had three epidurals & I was completely awake & pain free.:) You can't see the needle being put in & you really don't feel much more than like a bee sting. It is great to be awake to hold your baby right away. I did have an emergency c-section with my first child & was knocked out. Trust me the epidural is much better.

  4. I know...my aunt had a lot of trouble after her epidural. I am not afraid of a typical IV needle, but a huge needle going into my spine, AHHHH!!!! Do you have to have a C-section? Actually, women can heal faster after a vaginal birth. You can ask your OB to do a spinal block instead of an epidural. That way, nothing stays in your back..the needle is removed after the meds are inserted and you still dont feel anything from the point of injection down. The epidural (cath) has to stay in your back. The only thing is...once the spinal block runs out...its gone. I do not know if they will allow that with a C-Section...maybe only with vaginal birth. It depends on how much "modern medicine" your OB practices.

  5. I did but let me tell you it was the most awesome thing in the world.  I was induced and having back labor after 8hrs they gave it to me and I fell asleep I could feel no pain!  Insertion wasn't a big deal it felt like a bee sting then some pulling but only lasted less than a minute.

  6. Well there are just some stupid nurses/ doctors that do not know how to do it correct my moms friend was poked 8times while trying to get her epidural in the right place, crazy huh? In the end it was not effected becasue the person couldnt get it right. For my mom she said she didnt even feel it beeing put in and the person who did hers did a great job. Iam getting scared of epidural myself now =[

  7. You BARELY feel it if it's done right (which most of the time it is).  Then you'll feel a very cold sensation, but not at all cold enough to sting.  THEN you feel nothing!  It's terrific.  I had my middle child w/o the epidural and that was the worst day of my life (until the cutie butt was born).
