  1. I used to help by giving kayak tours of a local estuary.  One day was particularly beautiful, and I may have been inspired by this, because at the end of the tour I received applause!  I was stunned, but realized then that enthusiasm can help people to receive otherwise ordinary information in an extraordinary way.

The other thing I've done was to help the city where I work recognize that they needed a wildlife crossing sign on a street near open space, where the speed limit is 50 mph.  People still speed, but the sign encourages them to be aware of the wildlife.  Some may not care about the well being of the wildlife but they don't want wildlife smashing into their cars and denting them, either.

Lots of little stuff I've done, but those stand out from the pack.

  2. I once had a mountain lion roaming my backyard. They were endangered. I allowed it to stay there as long as it wanted and it kept coming back. We had a good understanding. It was his backyard and I could use it when he was gone. He was like an old friend, but we never got really close. I let my neighbors know so they didn't let their children outside unsupervised until he moved on. Here kitty, kitty, kitty!

  3. that as a single entity I can make a difference whether it be removing a bag of garbage when out on a hike to planting trees in a wash out area to prevent soil erosion

  4. a few days ago I saved a fledgeling sparrow that was hanging from some manmade metal rafters from his feet.....took to an animal hospital...they called me back to let me know they returned him to where I picked him up at so the "parents" could act as guadian..

a few years ago hiking along goose creek, found two baby snakes completely entangled in the six pack plastic rings.  Good think we came along when we did, they were practically being strangled...took a knife to cut the plastic that was binding them. poor snakies!

  5. shot a nice buck last fall,so there was more food for the other deer, one less deer to watch die of starvation, or get hit by a car,and is still feeding my family, cant wait to do it again this year! wait a minute my sons 12 so well get two this year!

  6. yes, because saving the environment doesn't only mean you've saved the animals, but if you do something for the environment you're literally directly/indirectly saving and preserving LIFE, which means you're also helping the other animals included in the food chain with the plants involve and specially human's environment, so if we do help saving the wildlife or the plants we also help to preserve our own existence.
