Has anyone flown from the US to Dubai or Abu Dhabi, UAE with a small dog in cabin?

I have been living in UAE for a while now and want to fly back home to Colorado to bring my dog with me over on the plane. I've heard that this is possible, but I am wondering if anyone has done this before....If so, what airline did you fly with? I read that is it best to get a direct flight, or one that doesn't require you to leave the plane if it makes a stop, but every time I have flown out here, I have had to stop in Qatar first. Has anyone ever flown direct from the US to UAE?
