Has anyone gone from bogota to lima by bus? do they know of any prices or time estimates for the journey? thnx

the only company i have found is www.grupo-ormeno.com, and i suspect its the only one online since my search has been quite extensive. has anyone used them or other offline bus services?

  1. I agree with the first answer. And, you might as well get used to the idea of being robbed, Gringo. You are a target for para-military, guerrillas, and just about anyone else.

    And, the soldiers may get on the bus and take you off to who-knows-where under suspicion of being involved or otherwise a supporter of the guerrillas, para-military forces, drug lords, etc.

    By all means, fly instead and spend your time and money in day trips in and from the larger, safer cities.


  2. I've never done that trip, but I've been on the Pan-American highway in southern Colombia.  Anyone who travels that route by bus is crazy.  The bus drivers are suicidal maniacs and drive like it .  Fly instead!
