  1. I got pretty lucky with my dog (now 9, we got her as a puppy). She learned pretty quickly to go outside to do business. Now she sits by the door when she needs to go out.

What we did is we frequently brought her outside and praised her when she did her business. If she went inside we would say "bad!" or "no!" and then brought her outside. If we saw her about to go on the carpet (swatting) we would pick her up and rush her outside. She didn't have many accidents inside.

DEFINATELY don't rely on the puppy papers. Only use them at night when you can't bring the puppy outside. My friend did that with her dog and it took them forever to train it since the puppy knew it could just go on the papers instead of outside.

  2. I have a friend-----Moisha-----he would LOVE to train the German shepherd.

  3. Rub your body in liverwurst so the dog knows your German.  It will listen to you.     If you don't have liverwurst, try raw liver meat and get the blood all over.  Make sure the dog has never been fed that day.

  4. well, the main thing is you have to be patient.  Every time he <goes> in the house, show it to him firmly say NO  and make a loud noise with a rolled up newspaper, you don't have to hit him with it, just startle him.

  5. Is that a cat?

  6. try taking it outside frequentlt and give it praise when it does it's job, it will eventually learn that it's supposed to go ouside not in. When it does do its job inside scold it but not hard just enough to let it know that it's not allright then take it ouside!

  7. Always give him a chance to go outside before he gets a chance to go in the house, this means it will be time consuming, but what do you expect with a puppy. Everytime he goes outside, you should praise him. Whenever he has an accident inside, make sure he knows he was naughty (however you want to go about that without beating him), and immediatly bring him outside so he can associate potty with outside and he will eventually learn. My dog only had like 10 accidents and he was trained. I wish I could do this with my son. J/k.

  8. take the puppy outside regularly and when the dog goes for a wee repeat a phrase will lots of praise - we tell our gs to 'go weewee' and then after a while they know what they are expected to do. that way as they get older you dont need to go into the garden with them all the time you just tell the dog - go weewee. i would also nip to pets at home and buy a product called 'simple solution' - its great for cleaning up the odd accident in the house which lets face it is bound to happen. Just be patient and the dog will housetrain very quickly but do limit the amount of space the dog is allowed until it is trained.

  9. i am successfully training my puppy,we put up a baby gate in our kitchen to block her out of the rest of the house until she is for sure house broken( we didnt for the first 2 months and she wrecked havoc on our new carpet)we bought training pads in case and sprayed them with house breaking spray, feed her at the same time everyday about 3 times a day, always keep water in her dish though.and take her out at the same times Everyday, try to shoot for about an hour a day.good luck!!
