I know that I have to sew together some plain material for the pages. I could paint pictures or applique or embroider them. Have you any other ideas as to technique and design? something safe but heirloomy? Please.

  1. My mother is 88 and has been making such books for years.  She does them all with simple applique and embroider work.

She often uses a teepee that has lace ups to close the flaps.  Little tennis shoes with velcro and laces.

Lots of velcro to put the flower blooms on the stems, spell a name with the abc blocks, etc.

Lions with "real" fur to touch, shirts that have to be buttoned up, girls with long hair to braid (yarn), boys jeans and coats that have to snap and zip.

She did have to take out the rotary dialed phone as a concession to the times. lol!

hope that gives you some ideas!
