Question:

Has anyone got any suggestions for alternative 'hen do' ideas?

I'm at the age where all friends seem to be getting married, and I'm really sick of the usual 'big night out' scenario - especially since I don't drink! Does anyone have any ideas for alternatives either for day or night (not too pricey as Spas seem to be)

  1. My maid of honor (little sister) and another one of my bridesmaids (FH younger sister) are both under 21.  I planned a special day with them along with my mother and FMIL.  We saw Tony & Tina's wedding on the Spirit of Philadelphia and it cost us about $90 a piece.  We all had a good time and it was a nice way to celebrate with my sisters and my moms.

  2. Paintballing

    Go Kart racing

Pole Dancing lesson (not as gross as it may sound, it is a very good way to keep fit, and a fun couple of hours with your bridal party)

Girly sleepover like when you were young, you can practise your wedding hair and make up (even if you are having it professionally done, itll be fun), have wine/champers, sweets, scary films and pyjamas!!

  3. red seven deal with hen/stag dos so look them up or go on lastminute.com for theatre breaks, weekends away etc. We went to Dublin for 3 days for mine, it was amazing

  4. bowling party

  5. Yes what i did in the daytime was do a chocolate making course for mine then in the evening i had a  takeaway with drinks before going out, then got a minibus into brighton in fancy dress for more frolics.

for those that don't drink the chocolate making thing and eating thing was there for them and then for those that wanted to drink had going into brighton as another option

chocolate making course  was 25 i think and i made loads of it!!

    good luck

  6. Go camping with your friends somewhere local!  That would be fun and cheap!

  7. Check your local area for massage, hair, or nail salon schools.  They often offer great prices because the students are using you to practice on.

Remember that you can really turn anything into an "event" by adding some type of theme.  Have a "hat" party where everyone has to wear a funny hat, or a "something old, new and blue" party where everyone wears either something old, new or blue and at the end, all of these items become gifts for the bride to be.

Some other suggestions is a nice lunch/brunch or perhaps a nice dinner.  Also, check the local area for a place that might have wine & cheese tasting.  I know that you don't drink, but this type of environment is much more relaxed and no one will think anything about you not drinking.

    Good luck!

  8. shopping day then dinner, just a hotel not spa and take a girly essentials kit like face packs etc. Theatre trip, seaside trip

  9. if you fancy something similar to a spa without the expense why not get a mobile therapist to one of the girls homes? that way you can all choose different treatments all chill the ones that drink can have a drink while being pampered and the ones that dont drink dont have the monotony of traipsing from bar to bar being bored of the same old same old! it neddnt cost much each and ask for a party discount then try haggling it down a little further! or you could approach your local college and tell them that you are looking for trainee therapists preferably 3rd year! who could use you lot as models! its either free or very cheap that way its something to think about! Gilly x
