  1. monopoly

    trivia pursuit

    cluedo

    you know the old classics

  2. dirty minds from argos

  3. monopoly

    cluedo

    scrabble

    twister

strip poker (ok slightly off the subject...)

  4. Trivial Pursuit is fun, a few years ago my family got the Lord of the Rings version - but I have seen many variations of the game - including Disney and Classic :P

I like trivia games, but my family also has a Bingo set which we break out sometimes - it's a lot more fun in real life than on the TV haha

  5. chess

  6. Apples to Apples

    Taboo

    Guesstures

    Catch phrase

  7. I asked this question not long ago, and lots of people recommended cranium. It lasts about an hour and is fast moving and not as boring as monopoly. But I've decided to make my own game! I'm going to buy some play-doh and use my kitchen timer. People will have one minute to create an object which the others then have to guess. Oh and bingo with prizes..and the one where you stick the name of a famous person to your forehead and have to guess who you are by asking people questions.

  8. Cranium is a really fun game

  9. Monopoly is a really great game. It's fun. One person gets to be the banker and you rotate in turns.

  10. Trivial pursuits always a good one

along with pictionary! (thats always good for a laugh!)

Hope you have a great Christmas!

  11. "catch phrase" is wonderful - edition one if possible  - very addicting - so much fun!!!!

  12. Settlers of Catan is a super fun game.  The goal of the game is to make little settlements...it really is a fun game.  You can purchase an expansion pack to play up to 6 players.

I think that same makers also have come out with Settlers of the New World ~ same idea ~ though a little more complex ~ still really fun.

Not sure if you would be interested in them in the UK ~ but a couple of other really fun games are: Ticket to ride & Puerto Rico.

Cash Flow is also fun & provides some financial learning opportunities.

I've played all of these and have enjoyed having get togethers (New Years, Christmas, US Thanksgiving) and we set up different stations for the adult games, and a few for the kids too.  It goes over real well because everyone is still in the same room and can feel like they are interacting with each other, even if they are involved in one particular game.  It's also fun to have a puzzle table that people can swing by and put a few pieces together and move on to do something else.
