  1. Drive a stake in the ground just past the start and finish point. Or set the 1st and last post. Then use a space block to hold the string 1/2 or 3/4 inches off the posts. Then just space and dig the holes at whatever spacing you plan to use. You may use spray paint to mark where the post go and remove the string until holes are dug. Replace the string and as you set each post use a block the same as those used on posts to line each post while setting to keep them in line. Make sure nothing touches the string. Plumb each post from the string line.

Then you can use a chalk line to pop a line on the post where your supports go. When you determine the height of the pickets also use a string to get the tops lined up.

  2. apple sauce!!

  3. set the 2 end post,  run a string 6 inches from the bottom of the ground and 4 inches from the top..this will keep ur pos straight.......then figure the height of pickets and run a line there and hold them to it.....

  4. They sell a little string line level and you set your boards along the string. Ask at Home Depot or Lowes.

  5. well if you want the tops to be level you will need to level it with the bubble that comes with the string line. tie one end off at the height that you want pull the string tite and keep adjusting till the bubble is in the middle. if you want to follow the contour of the land big dog is correct
