  1. awfull sounding things...even when new they rattle, and the noise coming from the dry clutch is deffaning.....

    nice looking bikes though....

    EDIT

you honestly like the sound of the clutch?...your right it does take all sorts...good luck.

  2. Some of the older Ducati's(like the 748) have reliability problems, mostly electrical.  I would consider the new 848 if you want a Ducati, i test rode one yesterday and its the best bike i've ever ridden, plenty of power, handles like its on rails, it doesn't skip about when pushed hard in corners like my GSXR600 and it sounds beautiful probably because it has a wet clutch so you don't get the rattles but just the thump of the twin and it feels real classy and focused to ride.  I'm trading my GSXR600 K7 in next year to get one, beautiful in white.  They can be had for £9,500 but second hand ones will become more common to buy.

  3. that bike is very expensive and expensive to repair and maintain and its performance numbers aren't that great!

you would be better off with any 600-650cc Japanese sport bike

  4. Ducatis are the most unreliable thing you could ever buy, but if you like that sort of thing, then carry on.

  5. I don't know what everyone is talking about. The dry clutch noise is because people put on ventilated carbon fiber clutch covers. Leave the stock cover on and you can't hear it at all. At speed, you can't hear it when moving with either cover. I had two Ducatis, They were trouble free, loads of fun and had excellent resale value. I bought a used 888, rode it for 10,000 miles in one year, and sold it for exactly what I paid for it. It took one day to sell it. If people don't like them, that's fine. I think they're fantastic if a bit pricey due to the weak dollar.
