Has anyone got less money from their tax rebate checks than their supposed to?

The only reason i'm asking this is because when I got my check I only got half of what I was supposed to get. And I really relying on that money. My mom was the same way. I just want to know is their more of us out there.

  1. So...how much money did you get, how much money did you think you were supposed to get?

    Most individuals heard the rebates would be "$300 up to $600" and immediately blocked out the meaning of "up to."

    If you qualified for the rebate, it started at $300.  You only got more money if you actually PAID more in taxes.  If your tax bill was less than $300, this is *all* you are going to get.

    (There were a very few cases where the IRS failed to see a qualifying child on the tax return and these will be addressed with a 2nd check in late July.)


  2. Define "supposed to".  The payment for an adult is between $300 and $600, depending on your tax amount.  A lot of people just saw UP TO $600 and assumed they'd get the maximum.
