Has anyone gotten addidcted i the hospital? i was getting 2mg dilaudid iv for 8 days.

it is addictive my son was in a childrens hospital and they gave that to him for 9 days in a pump and took him off the day he left the first 2 days home he was sick and fidgetty ect he said it was the worst feeling ever be careful good luck

First of all, you must have been in HORRIBLE pain, because dilaudid is stronger than morphine.

And yes, many of my patients (I worked in an army hospital for a while), would become addicted to the hospital.  It was common practice for us to ween people off of the dilaudid instead of taking them of cold turkey.  

It will pass in 3-5 days, don't worry, just fight through it.  Don't call work/school and say you are healthy yet though.  Keep a phone near you at ALL times, just in case you get weak and collapse or start vomiting and can't get up though.
