Has anyone gotten their exes stimulus check for child support arrears yet?

He was due to get his check on June 27th, and was told that child support took all of it (he is behind that amount AND some). I haven't gotten yet. How long does it take? Thanks!

It can take up to six months - depending on if he is married and his spouse claims injured spouse, and how long it takes for the state to process the payment once the IRS sends it to the state.

I second DJ's answer.

For some reason, child support takes up to 6 months before sending the money to the custodial parent or the parent receiving back child support when it is collected from IRS. It is suppose to work the same as it does when the parent paying child support does their taxes and gets a refund.

Though, I do know someone who received her stimulus check even though she owed child support. The funny thing about it is that her check was stolen out of her mailbox, and now, I am wondering if when they send it the second time, they will realize it and absorb it for back child support. So, she got lucky the first time, but she may be unlucky the second time they issue the check.

With the duration of time it takes and personal experience: In 2004, my son's father actually did his taxes after I convinced him to do so. He did them in March, but I did not receive the money until September.

My current husband owed tax money for 2007's taxes, and at first, he received the initial letter from the IRS saying that his stimulus check would be coming within the next 4-6 weeks. Then, he got a notice the next week saying that they retained it, and showed his new balance for taxes that he owes minus the amount of his stimulus check.

When I received my notice that my check was on its way, it gave a more specific range of dates. It said that I would receive the check by July 11th, and I received that notice on July 7th. The check didn't come until July 14th.
