Has anyone had Jaw surgery?

I have my braces and everything on. and theve been on for over a year. and im getting them off soon. my orthadontist desicover i have a duel bite. and my teeth over lap in the bottom jaw line... thats why ive always been afraid to smile because it felt uncomfortable cuz one side of my teeth wouldnt touch the other cuz my jaw is out of line.. alot... so i have the option of just wait and get the braces of and let it fall into place.. or.. get the jaw surgey. what i need to know is. how do that work. and what are the risks. has anyone who got jaw surgery done had a bad outcome? just need to know about the jaw surgery to feel more confortable into getting it..

ITs less painfull than removing wisdom teeth but there is a lot of swelling for about 2 weeks.
