Just curious as to what people think about it, if its good.. how long til you experience no periods? And this is going to sound bad but how long until my partner can have an o****m without any condoms and it be safe?

  1. I'm having mine put in at my postpartum visit and from what I understand from both online research and talking to my dr, you can have s*x 7 days after having it put in and it can take up to a year to stop having periods all together. The side effects are similar to the pill and include the breakthrough bleeding that you may have for a few months like if you started a new pill but after that everything should be reresolved The downfalls are that it hurts like a period while they put it in and that day and you may have a runny discharge for a few days to a few weeks after as your lining is completely shed. My dr. and several friends all have it and love it. It's the same as any other iud except that it has hormones to help with your period.

  2. I had it for 2.5 years and had it taken out because of the side effects. I was getting my period every 2 weeks and they were lasting 2 wks. i also was losing my hair. 3 days after I had it taken out i started bleeding extremely bad, and I havnt heard of this happening to any other women though. And i'm pretty sure you can start having s*x and safely have orgasms as soon as your up to doing it after you have the IUD inserted.

  3. My sister and my co worker both got preg using Mirena. My sister had a miscarriage and my co worker carried to full term . I don't think it is good.

  4. I loved mine, I had it for about 3 years. I recall it taking about 3-6 months for my body to fully regulate. I never stopped having a period, but it was so light all I needed was a panty liner (and really I would only need 1 for the whole day) for about 3 days.

You can return to sexual activity the next day if you feel up to it. It was such a huge relief not having to ever worry about birth control.

I immediately returned to fertility after having it removed, hubby and I got pregnant the first cycle without it...worked out perfect for us.

I will definitely get another Mirena after this child.

  5. My GYN highly recommends it. Althought I have not had it, she said it is the most highly used form of BC in Europe. Do some research on the net, there are lots of articles. But the only certain thing is that Mirena, or any pill can never be 100% safe from preventing pregnancy. I know of 3 women who currently use it and none have fallen pregnant, but I am sure you will hear lots of stories. Try to get some facts.
